IMEO Ministerial
As the core implementing partner of the Global Methane Pledge, UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) provides open, reliable and actionable data to governments and companies to drive mitigation at the speed and scale needed to meet the Pledge’s goal of reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030.
The government of Germany and the European Commission, as key supporters of IMEO, will convene ministers and high-level representatives from international organizations, industry and civil society at COP29 to highlight IMEO’s data-driven solutions for catalyzing methane mitigation, the need for decisive actions from companies and governments, and the opportunity to leverage additional support for IMEO’s mission.
During the event, a refreshed version of IMEO’s methane data platform will be unveiled alongside the launch of its 2024 Eye on Methane report, both of which provide credible and policy-relevant insights on the world’s methane emissions to a growing ecosystem of stakeholders engaged on this crucial climate effort.
